Arts Exchange Building

In partnership with Westchester County Government, municipal governments, and business and community leaders, the Arts Council works to weave the arts into the fabric of Westchester life, strengthen the county’s cultural institutions, and enrich the quality of life for all of Westchester’s residents.

Established in 1965 as a private, not-for-profit program organization, we have grown to become the County’s designated arts council and the largest of its kind in New York State.

Our mission is to provide leadership, vision, and support, to ensure the availability, accessibility, and diversity of the arts.

Our grants help fund concerts, exhibitions and plays; we bring artists into schools and community centers; we are the premiere marketer of the arts in Westchester.

ArtsWestchester has a large family of active arts-loving individual members, as well as more than 120 affiliate members. Together these not-for-profit arts organizations – our county’s museums and performing arts centers, theater groups and orchestras – make up a rich and varied cultural scene. ArtsWestchester provides our cultural community with technical assistance and marketing services, to ensure that Westchester can continue to thrive and grow as a Mecca for artistic endeavor and creative activity.

In 1998, ArtsWestchester purchased the nine-story neo-classical bank building at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue. After acquiring Historic Landmark designation, renovation and restoration transformed the old bank into what is now known as the Arts Exchange, a multi-use resource for artists, cultural organizations, and the community.
ArtsWestchester is supported by Westchester County Government, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Westchester Delegation of the New York State Legislature, and by foundations, corporations, and individuals.
