Dunn’s Loft

That’s right, his steakhouse is on the second floor of his building, above the existing seafood restaurant.

“It’s like opening a whole new business,” he said with a smile.

He’s operated Ocean 211 for the last five years and although the second floor has been used for parties and guests, he wanted to create something new in that spot. Dunn thinks having a steakhouse and seafood restaurant in the same building will create a niche market for him and he points to Las Vegas casinos as proof.

After a successful night, gamblers can either celebrate their winnings or mope about their losses, at one of the many restaurants a casino offers.

Dunn believes his idea is the same, just on a smaller scale.

The restaurant, which will seat 50, features large 100-year-old windows give the space a bright and airy atmosphere.

While Steak houses tend to have a conservative and expensive image, Dunn believes his spot will attract a clientele looking to have a good time in a casual atmosphere.

Dunn believes his customers will be “more of a social crowd.”

“There’s not going to be an entree more than $30 and for a steakhouse that’s quite reasonable.”

Part of the second floor will house a little lounge area, which will be anchored by a billiards table.

“It’s going to be a place where people can go for a little whiskey or a glass of wine and maybe dessert. It’s going to be a fun place,” said Dunn.

The fun won’t only be in what’s going in inside, patrons can also look out the window at the brick wall of the adjacent building and watch a movie.

“It’s a DVD projector so when we have private parties if you want to show a DVD slide pictures of the guest of honor we can do that,” said Dunn.” -The Stanford Times
