Collier-Seminole State Park

Collier-Seminole State Park offers visitors both a glimpse of the Everglades and a dense tropical tree forest. . The over 7,000 acres of the park are partially located within one of the largest mangrove swamps in both South Florida, and the world. The park is also home to one of Florida’s three original stands of rare royal palms. In addition, the park hosts a National Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark, the only surviving Bay City Walking Dredge. Dating back to 1924, the dredge played a part in the building of the Tamiami Trail Highway (U.S. 41). This route travels through the Everglades and Big Cypress Swamp, links Tampa and Miami, and offers a route to southwest Florida.

Visitors can explore the wilderness of the park’s wilderness in a variety of ways, including hiking, biking and canoeing. Canoe rentals are available, as is a boat ramp that provides access to the salt and fresh-water fishing found on the Blackwater River.
