Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park, a 712-acre Florida State Park, on Lover’s Key and three other barrier islands – Black Island, Inner and Long Key. Its address is located at 8700 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach, between Big Carlos Pass and New Pass. It is 10.5 miles west of Interstate 75 on exit 116. The park is inside Bonita Springs’ city limits and is just north of Bonita Beach. The park uses a Fort Myers Beach zip code in its address.

Park activities include sunbathing, swimming, picnicking, boating and shelling,, as well as canoeing/kayaking, hiking, bicycling and wildlife viewing. The park’s wildlife includes West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins, marsh rabbits. In addition, its over 40 bird species include roseate spoonbills, osprey, Snowy Egret, bald eagles, and American Kestrel. Black Island has woodpeckers, hawks, owls and warblers.

Facilities include a two mile long beach on Lovers Key. Black Island offers over five miles of multi-use trails, rental bicycles, canoes, and

kayaks, a gazebo, picnic areas, boat ramp, and two playgrounds. The park is open from 8:00 am till sundown throughout the year.
