Art Council Of Southwest Florida
President’s Message
For over fifty years since 1963, the Art Council has been the voice of Southwest Florida’s visual arts community, providing opportunities for education, exhibitions, demonstrations, and most
recently an interactive website and monthly newsletters, “Reflections,” to all member organizations’ artists. Our Biennial Shows, our Coop Art Gallery, and our new partnership with the Southwest Florida Community Foundation have created more opportunities for publicizing all that the Art Council of Southwest Florida has to offer its member organizations and the greater public community.
Our Coop Art Gallery at Coconut Point Mall is now in its fourth year with almost 300 artists participating from 16 member organizations since its inception. As the economy strengthens, space at Coconut Point Mall may be difficult to secure. It now occupies over 7000 square feet in Coconut Point Mall, Estero. As a result, the ACSWF’s Advisory Board has been formed with the purpose of finding a permanent home for the Coop Art Gallery and the Art Council.
History
The Art Council of Southwest Florida (ACSWF), a 501-C-3 non-profit organization, was formed in 1963 and today consists of 19 affiliated art organizations consisting of members from Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades & Hendry counties with a combined membership of over 6800 artists.
Mission
The mission of the ACSWF is to provide and coordinate educational opportunities in the arts; to promote appreciation for the arts and artists in Southwest Florida; to encourage the exchange of ideas among member artists; and to coordinate the activities, venues, and exhibition dates of its affiliated organizations.
